When I drove 10 hours from Virginia to Connecticut to begin law school, I made a mix CD to listen to in the car. This song was on it (immediately followed by Rod Stewart's You Wear it Well). I listened to that CD probably a thousand times and to this day anticipate Mr. Stewart's song will begin when this one ends!

ReplyDeleteThis song was my first Queen fave, too! I got a 45 of it for my birthday (do you remember 45's or are you too young??!) and I listened to it non-stop and as loud as I could on my little record player!!

Rinette - Of course I remember 45s. My dad is a huge record collector so we always had all sorts of albums around the house. I used to love those little plastic inserts you could put in the 45 to play it on a regular record player! I also had an Alvin & the Chipmunks carrying case for all my 45s. I was a pretty hip kid!

ReplyDeleteDo you have any Queen on vinyl? Records are just so cool- they don't sound as clear as CD's of course, but there is just something about them that makes the music seem so much better!
You know, I actually don't. I'm not even sure my dad has a record player anymore - I certainly don't. I agree though - there's something about a record that makes listening to music a whole different experience!
