Beds are Burning: What I Wore

There were lots of markdowns at Anthropologie this morning, but really nothing is calling my name. I'm definitely looking forward to the new spring and summer offerings because for the most part, the winter selections just did nothing for me. I did spot a necklace that intrigued me, not because of the style, but rather because of the name.

Readers, meet the Crystalline Entity Necklace. It's enormous. It's kind of gaudy. And it's heart-attack inducingly expensive (even on sale). But it's also the name of a creature on Star Trek: The Next Generation! Specifically the Crystalline Entity is the snowflake-like life form that destroyed the life on Omicron Theta, the planet from which Data originated! Later we learn that Data's evil twin brother Lore had actually lured the entity to the planet and he attempts to do so again before a vengeful scientist finally destroys the entity completely.

I love when two of my interests intersect like this. Clearly someone over at Anthropologie is a Data/Star Trek: The Next Generation fan as well!

I suppose I shouldn't hate on Anthropologie's winter arrivals too much because I did splurge and treat myself to a rare full price item a few weeks back.

Monthly Meet-Up Pullover, Anthropologie (available here)
Tulip Skirt, Banana Republic
Rockport Pierce Place Boots, Shoebuy
Hue Tights, Macys
Necklace, Loft
Earrings, Target

I spotted this sweater as I was leaving the fitting room a few weeks back. Something about the stripes and the rouched pattern was calling my name so I went back into the fitting room (which never happens) to try it on! This sweater is a nice casual/dressy hybrid as evidenced by this outfit that I wore to work and another outfit that I wore more recently with just jeans. The terry material is very delicate and halfway through the morning I realized that I had to remove my necklace or risk ripping the sweater to shreds. A few well placed stretches of fabrics later and all the pulls were absorbed back into the sweater and it looks as good as new!

I've decided to only post one outfit today because as of yesterday morning, I'm on bed rest for a week! Since I'm only going to be wearing jammies for the next seven days, I want to conserve the backlog of outfits that I do have rather than just posting them all at once! Everything is fine and I'll go into more detail of what's going on with a I Want a New Drug post next week, but I'm just dealing with a side effect of my retrieval last week.

Luckily Husband installed the Playstation 3 in the bedroom, bought me two new books, and set me up with several bedside snacks so I'm as comfortable and entertained as a girl on bed rest can be! Hopefully by next week I'll be up and about and have endless adorable outfits to post!

Happy Wednesday!

  5. OK, I totally got that reference too! Geek alert!
I think forced bed rest sounds pretty good to me right about now. Enjoy yourself as much as you can and have a soak in the bath, if you can!

  6. As far as I am concerned, any reference to Star Trek: The Next Generation adds instant credibility to the product.

  7. I went nuts when I saw the Crystalline Entity necklace! I had to call people and tell them about it. I also felt the urge to buy so as to incentivize them to make more references to TNG in the future! If it weren't so much money, I think I would have. I hope your week of bedrest goes well!
