Daydream Believer: What I Wore

Does anyone remember this song? Believe it or not, I completely adore The Monkees. I own their CD anthology set and the Season 1 box set their television show. It's through The Monkees that I realized that I love Neil Diamond (he wrote two of their hits: I'm a Believer and A Little Bit Me, A Little Bit You).

I typically have really vivid and realistic dreams. Lately that's not been the case and it makes me sad. Husband claims that not dreaming means that I'm sleeping more soundly, but I like my dreams! I'd rather sleep less soundly and have a fun adventure, especially since I'm tired when I wake up in the mornings anyway!

Last night I had a very brief dream which excited me greatly. Even more exciting? It was about Queen!

I dreamed that I was at the stadium where my high school used to play football. I was with a small group of people and in the middle of the crowd was Dr. May. Now in my dream, I was completely unimpressed by his close proximity. I met him. We're buddies now. Who cares?

But then, I saw RT! He was standing down in the field area and was talking to some of the people in the stands. Now, typically in dreams, I'm a bit of a wuss rather like in real life. But no, last night I was brave! I walked down to the field area to talk to him! I spotted a girl that I went to high school with who had a camera and asked if she'd take a picture of us. Then we smushed our cheeks together and took a photo before he walked away.

Someone in the dream asked me what he was like and I responded, "His face was so smooth!"

Problems with this dream:

1) In the resulting photo, I look like an absolute giant next to him! Dr. May is tall (something like 6'2"), but RT's still a respectable height for a man (taller than me at 5'8", at least), but no, in the dream photo, I was towering over him! And I was wearing a sweatshirt! What was I doing out in public wearing a sweatshirt?

2) RT's face is not smooth! He's had some variation of a beard for the last 20+ years!

What mini-clean-shaven person is going around in dreams masquerading as RT? Not cool!

If my dreams are going to be so grossly inaccurate, perhaps I'd rather not remembering them after all!
Shirt, Banana Republic Tailored Fit
Skirt, Banana Republic
Shoes, AK Anne Klein
Artist's Palette Necklace, Anthropologie (available here)
Earrings, Kohls
Bracelet, Pandora

I'm really a fan of these Banana Republic Tailored No-Iron Shirts. Unfortunately, BR seems to have abandoned this fit for the Fitted version, which I don't like. The Tailored fit gives me a smidge more room in the bust so I can stay in my normal size 10. In the Fitted version I have to size up to a 12 which makes the rest of the shirt rather big and baggy all over.

I have Probate Court today so I tried to be a little less quirky with my outfit, but I couldn't resist wearing my new favorite accessory: the Artist's Palette Necklace!

I have a ton of fitting room reviews from this weekend - I'll post the first batch tomorrow morning!

Happy Monday!

  1. I really like that blouse -- bummed they don't make it anymore!

I thought of your blog on Saturday. I stepped out of my local Anthropologie, only to find a cover band, Queen Nation, doing a sound check for their concert that night. Of all the songs, they'd chosen "Radio Gaga." :) Anyway, it was a rather Princess of Taylor moment (even saw an Ann Taylor store near the stage).

  3. At least you're having cool dreams! Mine usually consist of dreaming that I woke up and am lying in bed, but then realizing I haven't woken up and trying desparately to wake myself up! Ridiculous but terrifying in my dream state.

  4. Caroline - This style blouse disappeared in the spring, I'm hoping they bring it back in the fall. And your story of the Queen, Anthro, Ann Taylor collision sounds amazing. If a 10K had been running by also, my head totally would have exploded! LOL

Ashley - Me too! Kate Hudson wore this exact outfit in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and it made an immediate impression on me!

Lisa - Oooh that sounds scary! Usually my dreams are lame. It was so exciting that I was actually brave enough to do something cool and then to find out that it was an imposter! Not acceptable!
