Anthropologie Fitting Room Reviews (Count the Petals Tank, Honey Pot Skirt, Kinship Blouse, Soffione Blouse)

I still have two more reviews from Anthropologies in New York to run this week! (I told you I tried on a lot to take my mind off of meeting Dr. May!) My nervousness is your gain!

Count the Petals Tank, size Medium ($68)
This tank looked small when I held up the hanger. I debated between a Medium and a Large and took the Medium. I was wrong. This tank was snug and didn't have a lot of stretch to it. The color is a really pretty burgundy, but the applique was a bit much. As much as I like enormous floral/ruffle embellishments on all my clothing, I acknowledge that some day this trend will end and I'll literally have nothing else to wear! I wasn't in love - and for $68? No way, Jose!

Honey Pot Skirt, size 12 ($98)
Ah here we have another fall sweater-esque skirt from Anthro (see me unsuccessfully try on others here). This skirt had a bit more structure at the waist, but the rest of the skirt was just hugging me in all the wrong places. The length also seemed a bit short to be work appropriate (especially with it being slightly more fitted and not exactly a-line). I'll pass.

Kinship Blouse, size 10 ($68)
This was a pretty blouse. The color is more purple in real life - the photographs here look more of a putty color. The 10 fit just right. I liked the rouching at the bust and then the empire waist was flattering. I'm not sure how I could wear this blouse though - you can't really tuck it in and I think it might look odd under a jacket or cardigan. I could see wearing it with a pencil skirt in the fall, but after that I'd want a long sleeve option. I'd consider this one at sale after confirming that it looked nice underneath something else.

Pinochle Skirt, size 12 ($98)
I kind of liked this skirt, much to my surprise! I grabbed it because I was wearing a dress and needed a bottom, but once I had it on, I didn't want to take it off. There weren't any pockets which was disappointing, but the material is a nice silk and the fit was nice (at my high waist where we have learned that skirts are supposed to fit). I'd consider this one come sale time (even though it's probably only 3 seasons appropriate.)

Soffione Blouse, size Small ($98)
I loved the pattern on this, but worried that the cut would be a nightmare on. Then I really liked it on (except for the hip was a bit snug). I assumed I had grabbed a Medium and that I'd need a Large then I realized I had a Small. A Small? How did that happen? The waist tie on this blouse nips it in just enough. I think this looks great with the Acting Out Skirt and would be nice with any pencil skirt or dress pant. This one is definitely on my wish list for sale (and in the proper size!)

One more batch of reviews coming. I'll post those towards the end of the week!

  1. As always- thank you so much for the running tips. And you're right- losing weight shouldn't be happening while training for a 10-miler....and I'm definitely steadily losing. I mean, sure, my time is improving and my run was pretty good today- but I need more fuel throughout the day even if I'm not hungry.

I'm so glad you tried the Kinship Blouse on. I want it in white because I don't like tucking in my tops and it'd be perfect with a pencil skirt, like you said! yay! It shall be mine!

  2. I really like the kinship blouse on you. But like you, I wouldn't know how to wear that as well. The sleeve is a bit puffy for a cardi. And as always, that acting out skirt is just soooo nice on ya!

  3. Jenny - If you're losing weight definitely eat more! That's why I continue to run! LOL (You'll still get more toned and lose inches if you incorporate weight training into your routine!) If you want an untucked blouse, the Kinship Blouse will be perfect! I hope you love it!

Cindi - I'd be willing to give it another whirl so we'll see come sale time. And thanks re: the Acting Out Skirt. I love it entirely too much!

  4. Kathleen,

Can you try on the Marston sweater skirt?

  5. If I see it in my store, sure. Although I read the reviews online and I can't imagine my trying it on will be of any value other than comic relief! :)
