I totally missed out on the Liberty of London line at Target. Well, actually, that's not true. I saw it in my local store and nothing really impressed me. What I would have loved was a skirt, but the collection only had dresses and tops. In retrospect, I should have tried out some of the dresses for vacation purposes, but vacation seemed so far away when the line launched. Then suddenly vacation was upon me and I needed cute cheap summer dresses!
Dress, Mossimo Supply Co. for Target, size Large
Sandals, Sofft Janeys, size 10
This one caught my eye right away. It's a bit nightgown-ish, but the length makes it obviously a dress. It has really pretty and delicate embroidery at the bust and the hem. The entire dress looks much more expensive than the $21 I paid for it, except for the cheap straps. These were nearly a deal breaker for me. I stood in the fitting room, silently cursing the designer for not investing an extra, I don't know, $1 on some actually fabric straps. In the end, I decided that during the day, I'd probably have a bathing suit on underneath and in the evenings, I could throw a cardigan over the dress. That rationalizing was enough to convince me so I decided to get it.
Dress, xhileration for Target, size Large
Sandals, Kenneth Cole Reaction, size 9
There was no question that I would buy this dress though. I loved it from the minute I saw it on the rack to the second I had it on in the fitting room. The empire waist is flattering and the pattern is so pretty and summery! The only thing that would make this dress better is if it had pockets. With pockets, I would have paid $40 for this dress. Without pockets, the $21 I paid seemed just right.
I expect to wear these dresses during the day on our vacation. I'm told Cabo is a mix of lazy resort-life and busy action-packed adventure. These dresses will be perfect if we venture out into town to do some shopping or sightseeing. I can also see them transitioning well to a nice dinner or even the beach, depending on the accessories I choose. They are both a nice lightweight material and I won't be too hot.
Happy Thursday!
Hope you're having fun in Cabo!
ReplyDeleteWe spent most of our time lounging by/in/at the swim up bar next to the pool during my time there eons ago. I ended up with one wicked tan/sun burn.
Very cute dresses! That look great on you. I wish I was on vacation right now.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are having a terrific vacation. I bet those sundresses are great to wear on the beaches in Mexico!
ReplyDeleteLisa - Somehow I managed to not burn at all! I'm so proud of myself and am trying to figure out how to make my tan last forever!
ReplyDeleteLorraine - Thanks! I actually didn't end up wearing the first one, but it's in the 90s back home so I'm sure I'll have plenty of chances to wear it the rest of the summer!
Ady - Thanks! I had a great time. I wore the second dress to dinner one night and as a beach coverup the next day! Totally brilliant!
