Some mornings I just lose time. This is different from losing track of time. I mean that I seriously lose time as in I fall into a space-time continuum vortex and in the span of seconds, several minutes have gone by. This morning was one of those days.
I got up early because I had to be in Probate Court promptly at 9am. Typically, when Court says 9am, if you saunter in before 10am, you're fine (and probably the first attorney on your case to arrive), but Probate Court is a whole different ball of wax: 9am means 9am. Judges have actually scolded attorneys for not showing up at 8:30am when they are expected for 9am! So the combination of Probate Court, a notoriously grumpy judge, and that my case was scheduled for hearing today prompted me to get up a wee bit earlier so I'd have enough time.
I took my shower, ate my breakfast, and looked at the clock: 7:45am, plenty of time. I went to the bathroom to put on my makeup and then all of a sudden it was 8:15am! Now, I wear my fair share of makeup, but I had only put on my Bare Escentuals at that point: no eye shadow, no blush, no lipstick! And I can safely say that putting on my foundation does not take 30 minutes! Where did that time go?
I quickly dried my hair and then was actually thankful that I only had 18 choices on what to wear today. That made the dressing process much quicker than usual! In fact, I was dressed so fast that Husband was still home to take a picture of me!

When I arrived at Court, the judge had already been out and gone back to his lobby when he heard I hadn't arrived. Luckily he was in a pleasant mood and I'd convinced the parties to come to an agreement so he came back out relatively quickly and I was able to leave by 9:45am. Phew!
Does anyone else lose time like that? It typically happens to me in the last three miles of my commute. It will be 8:45am and I've got plenty of time to get to the office. I'll get off the highway, drive three blocks to my parking lot and somehow by the time I reach my office, it's practically 9:30am! I don't think I drive or walk that slow so what's going on?
The ridiculous heat and humidity continues. I'm hoping to get a treadmill run in this evening. I did yoga for the first time last night. I was so worried about being sore, but I found a nice beginners practice in OnDemand that eased me into it. To be honest, today my legs hurt more from wearing heels for the first time in two weeks than they do from the yoga! Who knew that fashion could also be a workout!
I'm only working a half day tomorrow since my parents and grandma are coming to visit. I'm so excited to see them!
