Steal My Sunshine: What I Wore

In the interest of full disclosure, I'm a copycat again today. Actually I'm a double copycat (so is that like two wrongs making a right?) A few weeks ago in Anthroholic Reader Outfits, Kim posted a picture of Lauren from Sydney, Austrailia looking absolutely adorable in her Optimist Dress and Brushwork Blooms Cardigan (click here).

Then earlier in the week I got this email from Anthropologie featuring these outfits. At this point, I figure that Lauren and Anthropologie are onto something - I can wear polka dots with another pattern!

Now, of course, I own the Optimist Dress and for a brief time also owned the Brushwork Blooms Cardigan (before I decided to return it in order to get the Drifting by Dress for practically free - click here for a mathematical breakdown of that feat!) But I do currently own the Neapolitan Cardigan from J. Crew. Hmmmm, I thought to myself.

Optimist Dress, Anthropologie, size 8 (on sale in stores)
Neapolitan Cardigan, J. Crew, size Medium (on sale in stores)
Belt, Kohls
Shoes, Franco Sarto from Marshalls, size 9 (from summer 2008)
Earrings, QVC (available here)
Necklace, Banana Republic

People went crazy over my dress today. Everyone thought it was very retro and went perfectly with my snappy new bangs. Of course the hot flashes continue so I sat in my office all day, dressed for spring, and running a mini fan (because my coworkers turned on the heat! *dies*) I do not even want to think about how miserable I'm going to be when the weather gets above 60!

And because my fellow princesses asked, here's a close up of my jewelry:

I'm debating whether to run outside or on the treadmill today. It's really windy out (note the double meaning in my post title - I know. Clever, right?) and I'm having visions of being blown away, Wizard of Oz style. But I really hate my treadmill. I think I'm going to suck it up and head outside!

  1. I really like this pairing! I'm very conservative with patterns in my own style, but I think looking at great mixes like this give me initiative to try it :)

  3. Meli - Thanks! I was really happy with this pattern mixing too and I'm totally looking forward to stealing other pattern mixing suggestions from the Anthro email!

Emily - :) Thanks I'm glad I have fellow princess approval!

I welcome all types of comments and feedback. However, I do ask that you be polite and respectful.
