Something in the Way She Moves: What I Wore

I'm a wee bit frustrated with today's outfit. It looks nice until I stop moving and try to take a picture, then it gets all wrinkly and lumpy bumpy. The bumpiness is the hem of my shirt not me! And this skirt is not tight at all (it's actually rather loose) so I have no idea what's going on with the pulling at the thighs! Unacceptable! Husband worked from home this morning so I asked him to take a picture of me. I hated the way it turned out so I tried again. Then I tried a third time and still wasn't happy. Ugh, but rest assured this outfit looks much better in person than it does on camera - *sighs* I guess I'll just have to make an attempt to dodge the paparazzi all day today!

Shirt, Ann Taylor, size 12 (from fall 2009)
Skirt, Ann Taylor, size 14 (from fall 2009)
Shoes, Banana Republic, size 9 (from spring 2008)
Necklace, Marshalls (from winter 2005)
Earrings, Kohls

I received this necklace as a Christmas gift from my mother-in-law years ago. Well, actually I received a different necklace which was absolutely not my style, but fortuitiously was also broken. Husband and I went to exchange it for a non-broken one, but I found this instead. We told mother-in-law that the store was sold out of the original necklace. End result - I get a necklace I actually might wear and she doesn't get hurt feelings. I didn't actually wear this necklace for a long time because it just seemed to big and fancy for everyday wear, but I've always liked it peeking out of the collar of a black shirt. The earrings match in an accidental sort of way - I'm not entirely sure how I feel about that. Does it make the whole thing too matchy matchy?

I'm off to the doctor this afternoon. My hot flashes have totally baffled the medical community at large (or um just the nurse I spoke to on the phone earlier in the week) so I'm hoping that the doctor can do something to help me out! I'm too young for this nonsense!

I'm super excited for the weekend ahead - my Taylor Hawkins and the Coattail Riders concert is on Sunday night and I can't wait! Of course, next week (Monday especially) is going to be really rotten since I'll be getting home so late (the concert starts at 9pm and is two hours away from my house!) I shouldn't complain though - at least Taylor Hawkins is willing to tour in the U.S. (*ahem* hint hint RT!)

I've borrowed a camera from my sister-in-law so hopefully I'll get some good shots of the show and sometime next week I'll do a concert recap and an album review. I've been listening to their new album (available here) all week and I have to say: it is really really catchy!

Also on Monday, I'll announce the details of Princess of Taylor's first giveaway. I can't even stand how excited I am about that - I hope you all are too!

Happy Weekend!

  1. You look awesome! I love the earrings with the necklace.

The Taylor Hawkins show will be a blast! I saw him i think....5 years ago? My ears still haven't recovered from being RIGHT BY THE DRUMSET.

  2. Thanks!

Husband found out that the venue is super small so I'm totally shoving my way to the front of the stage! I'll just deal with the ringing in my ears (for the next five years apparently!) They were on Jimmy Kimmel last week and sounded amazing so I'm super excited (because um honestly the Foo Fighters sometimes sound kind of rotten live - it must be Dave Grohl)
