J.Crew Debut: What I Wore

I'm feeling much better today although I'm still having an ungodly time regulating my temperature. I finally figured out that one of the side effects of a new medication I just started is hot flashes. Hot flashes! I've been trying to wear layers that I can remove as necessary, but even still a few times a day, my head actually feels like it has caught on fire (*sings* Sometimes I feel like a girl on fire. Sometimes I feel like a girl possessed!)

Today I'm finally debuting my new Neapolitan cardigan from J.Crew. This cardigan has the distinct honor of being the first thing that I've ever purchased at J.Crew proper (i.e. not an outlet). I will fully admit that this entire outfit is inspired by Molly in Kim's Weekly Reader Outfits over at Anthroholic (see here). She paired a Neapolitan pencil skirt with the Free Flow Tank. The pencil skirt wasn't available in my size anymore (and honestly I've got way too many pencil skirts) so I spotted the cardigan on sale and pounced. I'm so glad I did because I'm really happy with this outfit!
Free Flow Tank, Anthropologie, size Large (available here)
Neapolitan Cardigan, J. Crew, size Medium (available here and on sale!)
Skirt, Banana Republic, size 14 (from spring 2008)
Shoes, Ann Taylor Perfect Exotic Pump, size 9 (available here)
Necklace, Banana Republic
Earrings, Kohls
Grand Slam Bracelet, Anthropologie
Bracelets, Cruise ship purchases (Inch of Gold)

Today I'm wearing one item from each of my favorite stores (Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, and Anthropologie). I'm really loving my new cardigan too so maybe J.Crew will become my fourth favorite store! If only the world worked together as harmoniously as the various components of my outfit!

While sitting in court, one of the court officers commented that I look rather tan today and asked if I had been on vacation. I debated whether to tell him that my "tan" is in fact fake! I was pretty pleased that it fooled him because I'm always worried about looking orange or splotchy when I use a self-tanner. In the end I admitted that it was fake - should I have pretended it was real? What's the protocol, readers?

I took pictures before I used the product and will take more pictures tonight to do a review, but I have to say I'm pretty happy with this particular product so unless I wake up green tomorrow (a la Kelly Kapowski's face turning maroon after she used Screech's miracle acne cream), I think I've found a new self-tanner!

  2. Kendra - I ordered Dr. Denese tanning gloves from QVC. I really liked it a lot! I am working on a whole review complete with pictures. It should be ready by the weekend!

  4. This is a GREAT outfit! That tank in particular looks perfect on you.

About hot flashes, I sympathize. I've been having them for years. The only thing that helps me when one hits is standing directly in front of a fan or under an air conditioner duct.

  5. Thanks Mom and Lady Cardigan - I loved the way this outfit turned out!

Thanks also for the tip, LC! Unfortunately all the buildings where I work are on a timer for heat/air and since it's still early April, the heat is still on! I'm dying here! Luckily my boss had a paper fan that she loaned me!
