If you can believe it, I had never watched the SuperBowl until I met my husband seven years ago. I used to go to the gym during the SuperBowl because it was always empty.
Now, I'm typically forced to watch the entire game.
Because I don't particularly care about football, I have to find other ways to amuse myself.
This year, I'll have two things that I can focus on:
1) Peyton Manning aka my next husband (much to the dismay of my current husband who has suggested that my liking Peyton Manning as much as I do is grounds for an annulment). BUT HE'S SUCH A CUTIE!
And he's funny! I'm seriously keeping my fingers crossed that a whole host of new Peyton Manning commercials debut today because that would be glorious and keep me entertained for hours days years! I still get a kick out of the Double Stuf Oreo commercial - "My brother and I would like to announce that it's on like Donkey Kong." LOVE IT!!!
2) Queen - I posted a few days ago about Queen's popularity in America and how We Will Rock You is the most played song by the NFL, NHL, and MLB. Well, not surprisingly, NFL is going to use We Will Rock You for SuperBowl promotion and Dr. May has done some work with ES Posthumus to record a new We Will Rock You mash-up. I have no idea what this means, but CBS will be running the song as a promo for pre-game coverage and also during the game itself. I'll certainly be interested to hear this version as Dr. May seems pretty excited about it (see here, Wed. 27 Jan. 10, More Super Bowl and Sat. 23 Jan. 10, WWRY and Superbowl).
Hopefully the game will be a blowout and we can turn it off early, but these two things should keep me entertained in the meantime! Hehehe!

haha, i don't remember that peyton commercial. awesome mustache though. He's always so funny. Those both sound like good alternate reasons to watch the game! Ooh, and I just saw an article saying there will be a BETTY WHITE SUPER BOWL AD! I didn't read the article b/c I wanted it to be a surprise! :)
ReplyDeleteHahahahaha, I remember watching the "nipplegate" game at Jamie's place with all you guys...I guess that was your first Superbowl EVER!!! :) My fave commercials were the Google Paris one, which I'd seen before and teared up at, the Bud Light Book Club one ("I'd like to hear you read some words"), and the E*Trade one with the milkaholic named Lindsey...irony ;-).
ReplyDeleteYup that was my first Superbowl ever! I wasn't too thrilled with the commercials yesterday either - the Betty White one was meh, the Google one was good, and I liked the Letterman one. I was excited about the new E*Trade baby commercials, but they had to get a new baby! He was not nearly as cute!
