Challenge Day 4: Liar, Liar, Pants on Fire: What I Wore

I clearly need a vacation. The past two days I have resorted to children's songs for my post titles. We're going to Florida in a few weeks for father-in-law's wedding, but Husband claims that since there are so many activities planned, that's not a vacation.

I disagree.

I'm going on a plane to a location that is hopefully warmer than 60 degrees. That, my friends, is a vacation.

So why is the title of my post today a children's song? More specifically, why is the title of my post "Liar, Liar, Pants on Fire"?

I present today's outfit.
Blouse, Ann Taylor Loft, size Medium (from spring 2009)
Jacket, Ann Taylor Loft, size 10 (snagged on sale after Christmas for $14!)
Pants, Ann Taylor Loft, size 14 (from winter 2009)
Shoes, Ann Taylor, size 9 (scored for $40 - originally $175!)
Earrings, Kohls
Necklace, Banana Republic

I'm a liar because I'm not actually wearing these shoes today. I put them on for the picture then looked outside and thought, "Oh but it's still raining...and my feet already hurt...and wah wah wah." So I took them off and put on my winter boots. I didn't even bring the shoes to the office with me under the guise of wearing them if I have to go somewhere later - nope, today's What I Wore is 25% complete shennanigans and I'm not afraid to admit that. (Actually the percentage is probably higher because I took the picture before I put on my Kohls earrings and my Banana Republic necklace so don't squint hard to see those things - they aren't actually in the picture.)

Oh the deception!

But I did wear a pattern today so at least I'm staying honest when it comes to the challenge! I got this blouse to wear on my Alaskan cruise last summer and I love it - there are tons of colors and it matches about a thousand cardigans that I already own (as well as some that I expect to own soon, i.e. the Blooming Lattice Cardigan...in both colors!)

The pants have a subtle chocolate pinstripe. I originally tried on the jacket and pants together - my mom said, "No, that doesn't match!" I thought it kind of did so I'm trying it out today. They are both basically neutrals so I think I'm fine.

Tomorrow is Challenge Day 5 and I'm going to attempt something completely insane - the mixing of patterns!

Hold onto your hats, folks!
