My thing with getting new clothes is that I'm so excited to wear them the first time that I want it to be for a really "special occasion". I look at a pretty new thing in my closet and say, "I can't wear that today. I'm just going to be sitting in my office," or even, "Yeah I'm going to court, but only for a status conference. I want to wear this for the first time to a trial." So for me to bust something out of the closet the first time is a relatively big deal.
Blouse: Ann Taylor, size Medium (available here)
Sweater: Ann Taylor Loft, size Medium (purchased last spring)
Belt: Target, size Large (for $12)
Pants: Ann Taylor, size 12 long (part of a suit, purchased winter 2008)
Shoes: Ann Taylor, size 9 (for $35!?!?)
I got to the office and by 10am had received three compliments on my blouse. I had been pretty excited about it already but that definitely sealed the deal. The even more exciting news is that I made it through the whole day in my shoes (which are more than a 4 inch heel - I'm 5'8" already, but I don't care how much of a giant the shoes make me. They also make my legs looks freakin' long and skinny which is my main reason for living). The only outfit fail for the day was my Assets undergarment which started out fine, but after removing it like 8 times to go to the bathroom was all stretched out around my torso. So much for sizing up (I had purchased the 4 so next time will get the 3). I also might just go for broke and get the real thing (Spanx with the *ahem* gusseted crotch).
All in all, an outfit success. Now I just need to figure out what to wear on Monday which is a "real" court day so I get to go all out! Will today's Anthro arrivals play a role in the ensemble?
