This is getting really bad. I am getting to the point when I come home from work, I expect to see a package. I get upset when I don't see a package and immediately attempt to remedy the situation by ordering more stuff online. I told a coworker that I am, "on a path to spending a million dollars, $10 at a time." Seriously - these online sales need to end (or someone needs to hide the power cord to my computer - JUST KIDDING! Don't you dare!)
So today's packages were my second QVC necklace purchase and my first Anthropologie order of the week, actually my first Anthropologie order ever. Yay!
This is my first attempt at dabbling into Anthropologie so while I definitely like all the stuff I ordered (online at least), my real mission here was to get a grasp on the sizing. Like I've said, I can fall anywhere from a 8 to a 14, but it's nice to have some general idea on a store so I don't have to order five of everything I buy! Of course, I placed this order before coming to the realization that Anthropologie is not a brand so all the different items in the store are sized totally differently based on the individual designers. Why does looking adorable have to be so time consuming? Someday I'm just going to hire Tim Gunn and Stacey London to shop me with and tell me what to buy and what to wear it with. Shopping is taking up so much of my time, I don't have ample time to dedicate to running and Queen (let alone actually living a normal person's life).
And on a side note, Anthropologie is already doing a marvelous job at wooing me. The day after I placed my order, the Swirling Villages, Surplice dress was discounted from $99 to $49. Now Ann Taylor would tell me, "You can only price adjust a full sale item," but I typed out a quick email to Anthropologie and a few hours later got this nifty little response:
Hello Kathleen,
Price adjustments can be made up to 14 days from the ship date of your order. A credit of $53.00 will be applied to your credit card for the sale price of $49.95 for item 930121. This credit should appear on your next credit card billing statement.
If you require additional assistance or have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at service@anthropologie.com.
Please include this email with your reply.
Sincerely,
Elana Williams

All I can say is, "Wow...and watch out, Ann Taylor, you might soon be replaced as my favorite store."
Just kidding again! Really, Ann Taylor. I'm sorry. I didn't mean it. I don't even know if Anthropologie's clothes look good on me. I still love you. For realsies.
First, I ordered the Forever Garden Tee, size Large. This I like a lot. It is a nice comfy fabric and I am always a fan of the empire waist. This shirt has a tie in the back that you can cinch as tight or as loose as you want. With a cardigan I think this is definitely work appropriate and also something I can wear casually. I'm leaning towards keeping this (especially since it was only $30!)
I also ordered the Crimpled Cardigan in grey, size Large thinking that I could layer it with the Forever Garden Tee, which I did and I liked. The crimps in the front of this cardigan definitely make it interesting and the material is light enough weight that I could wear it into the summer. The color definitely has a taupe feel to it although it is definitely grey. I think this one might also be a keeper.
Before anyone gets too excited about the next picture, THE DRESS DOESN'T FIT. Yes, it does zip and yes it looks rather adorable on me (if I do say so myself), but the interior lining is about two sizes smaller than the dress itself. Like as in I couldn't sit down if I tried. This is too bad because I really like the Swirling Villages Dress, Surplice (ordered in size 12), but the top is already a wee bit big and the overskirt fits fine so a 14 is out of the question. Too bad - this is the item that went even more on sale after I bought it. I figured I'd post the pictures anyway to show what the dress looks like on someone bigger than a size 2 so here ya go:
Okay final purchase and this one is the tough one: Midnight Squal Skirt in black, size 12. This skirt is $80 (even on sale) and I bought it on a whim. It is ridiculous looking on the mannequin on the website and I figured I'd try it on, get a good laugh, know if I wear a size 12 in this brand, and return it. People, we have a problem:
I kind of like it. Now I'm unsure about whether the rouching along the side is supposed to be there and it is definitely a more pronounced polka dot than I was expecting, but the ruffle is kind of cute and the style of the skirt is unusual and interesting and look I'm wearing my white tuxedo blouse with it! I'll probably hold off on making any major decisions until I get my second Anthro order...um and my Banana Republic order that shipped today, but I'm seriously considering keeping this (especially since I just returned like $200 worth of stuff to Ann Taylor so that's like found money, right? Right?)
Onto the QVC packages.
I emailed QVC about the price adjustment on the first earrings and necklace set. They responded that I can either return the full set for a complete refund OR they'll give me a partial refund of $10 for the damaged earrings so the necklace ends up being less than $20. Nice.
See Ann Taylor, that wasn't so difficult, was it?
No, I'm sorry, that was uncalled for. Let's make up.
So here is contender #2 in the "Replicate this look for not $128 contest":

This one is also nice (and didn't come with totally destroyed earrings). I think it only cost $20 for both earrings and necklace so I might end up keeping it even if it doesn't win the contest. The color is definitely more brown (which I knew going into it seeing as how I selected the brown color choice), but the shape and size is right.
Hopefully tomorrow I'll receive my final QVC package and I'll be able to do a side by side by side comparison. Also watch out for my Mally make-up review tomorrow! Yay!
Love, love, love. What a bummer about that dress--it looks so great! And that skirt turned out pretty terrific!!! KEEP IT! :) My Anthro package came today too, yay for packages!
